The Yarrabah Microgrid is creating opportunities and enduring social value through infrastructure in regional Queensland.
The project proposes a solar-fed microgrid, to tackle the challenges associated with dated and vulnerable electricity infrastructure - leading the way for many other remote Queensland communities to do the same.
The approach seeks to demystify the challenges that microgrids represent, and empowers communities to be energy self-sufficient.
This nomination embraces all the tenets of this award category by delivering community well-being and diversity, not only now, but into the future and the judging panel congratulates the project team on an outstanding piece of work that will have lasting benefits for the Yarrabah community.
